 Republic of Bulgaria  is a country in the Balkans in south-eastern Europe. It borders five other countries: Romania to the north , Serbia and the Republic of Macedonia to the west, and Greece and Turkey to the south. The Black Sea defines the extent of the country to the east.. Geographically Bulgaria features notable diversity with the landscape ranging from the Alpine snow-capped peaks in Rila, Pirin and the Balkan Mountains to the mild and sunny Black Sea coast. The Rila range includes the highest peak of the Balkan Peninsula, Musala, at 2,925 meters (9,596 ft). Bulgaria is one of the best places for skiing in Europe. The skiing infrastructure is well developed and all ski resorts have a good reputation for lift networks, scenery and plenty of snow
